Recording an EP, a full-length album, booking their own tours and playing with national touring acts like Jack's Mannequin, Cartel, Augustana, Motion City Soundtrack and Sum 41, may seem like a lot to achieve in just four short years, but Chicago natives Treaty of Paris have done just that.

The band, which consists of Mike Chorvat (vocals), Dan Wade (guitar), Brandon Capetillo (bass), Phil Kosch (guitar) and Chris Insidioso (drums), really took off in January of 2005.

They began to record demos and play sold out shows in the Chicago area at venues like The Metro, Double Door and the House of Blues.

The fact that they booked their tours themselves is something that is very important to the band members.

"We had a catchphrase-'We're Doing It!'- that we'd say over and over to keep ourselves motivated for the times when situations were less than ideal," says guitarist and vocalist Dan Wade in an interview on their Web site.

As for their first tour, "It was amazing," says Kosch. "We got to play in front of new audiences with every show. We'd play one venue in front of three people and then another for a few thousand, but we played each one like it was the most important gig of our lives."

Because of the success of their tours and a new growing fan base, in 2007 their Demeanors EP and some newly recorded acoustic material ended up in the hands of Andrew McMahon of Jack's Mannequin/ Something Corporate.

Having just recently started the label, Airport Tapes and Records, McMahon had found just the band he had been looking for.

The band had been big fans of McMahon's music, "so the chance to work with him was a dream come true. We're confident that his business sensibility and keen ears combined with the great staff at YMA will be instrumental in guiding us along this brand new chapter in the band's career," says Wade.

2007 was also the year that the band released their first full-length album, "Sweet Dreams, Sucker."

The style of their music is pop-punk, and is similar to bands like The Spill Canvas and Mayday Parade.

The band really enjoyed recording this album. According to Wade, "It made me realize that I love the recording process. Being in the studio and thinking about which amp I wanted to use or taking the time to come up with cool background sounds are the kind of things that the average music listener doesn't think about, but it makes a huge difference. Previous recordings had always been low budget and rushed, so this was a nice change of pace."

The extra time really paid off. In 2008, Treaty of Paris played the Vans Warped Tour. Their single "Roller Skates" was also featured in the motion picture "Home of the Giants."

Most recently, the band got the chance to play with The Academy Is… here at Lewis University on Apr. 24.

The band is looking forward to touring even more and to play for as many people as they can.

"All we ask is that audiences give us the chance to prove ourselves. We'll take over from there," says Kosch.
