The women's golf team participated in five tourneys over the last two weeks to prepare for their upcoming GLVC championship event.

The team started with the rain shortened Northern Kentucky Invitational in Franklin, Ky. March 28-29. They were led by senior Amy Sachs (Willowbrook, Ill.), who shot a first round 81. Lewis finished 17th in the tourney won by Indianapolis.

Their next tournament was the one day St. Francis Spring Invitational in Lockport. on March 4. The Lady Flyers finished second with a total score of 359, just two shots behind champion Chicago State. They were led by senior Jamie Siedlaczek (Canton, Mich.), who tied for second overall with a score of 87. Sachs was second on the team and shot a 89 to come home fifth as an individual.

At their first of two tournaments last weekend, the Flyers participated in the Blackthorn Big Time Challenge in South Bend, Ind. Sachs led the team with a final score of 161 and a sixth place finish. Siedlaczek was one shot back of her, and she contributed to the Flyers finishing second overall in the tourney. Bethel College went on to win the tournament.

At their most recent tournament, the Aviator Classic, hosted by Lewis last weekend, Siedlaczek and Sachs both managed to finish in the top 10. Siedlaczek tied for seventh overall with a final score of 160, while Sachs was a shot back in safety in the top 10.

"As usual the two seniors stepped up in adverse conditions to post great scores with top 10 finishes for each," head coach Skip Steffey said. "Hopefully we can get a couple more people to step up at conference and try to get a top four spot."

The Lady Flyers have one more tournament scheduled, the Great Lakes Valley Championship this Saturday and Sunday. This will determine whether the Flyers continue their play this season or if individuals move on to national tournament. ?

The men's golf team competed in the final four tournaments of the season.

In the Parkside Invite at the Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus, Ind. from March 28-29, the Flyers were led by Senior Greg Roderique (Aurora, Ill) and sophomore Logan Watts (New Albany, Ind.). Rodenrique and Watts each shot a 75 in the first round and followed up with a 79 to finish with a total score of 154, good enough for ninth place overall.
