Lewis brought home fourth place at the NCA College National Championship.

Lewis University's All-Girl cheerleading team brought home a fourth place trophy on April 12, 2009. The Flyers competed in the National Cheerleaders Association Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla.

"I am so proud of those girls," assistant coach Brandon McGhee said. "They really worked hard the last couple of weeks and I couldn't be any happier."

Lewis competed in Division II. The competition is split by Divisions IA, I, II, III and Junior College. There is also a mascot division as well. Ten teams started off in the All-Girl Division II section, and five teams made it to finals.

Preliminaries were held on April 9, and finals were held Friday, April 10. Lewis clinched the fifth place spot during prelims.

Last Friday, Lewis All-Girl competed in finals. Finals are held overlooking nearly 1,000 spectators. Lewis hit a near flawless routine, with only one minor tumbling touchdown. They had a raw score scored an 8.261 out of 10.00. The minor tumbling touchdown cost them a deduction of .05 giving them a final score of 8.211. This score was strong enough to lock down fourth place in the nation.

This is Lewis' highest ranking in the NCA College National Championship. A video of Lewis All-Girl is posted on Varsity.com.
