Flyer Brings Home The Awards

This past weekend, Lewis University's student newspaper was presented with a number of awards.
The Illinois College Press Association (ICPA) awarded the Flyer with the following honors:
1. Honorable Mention - Newspaper General Excellence (The Flyer)
2. Honorable Mention - Feature page design by Luke Baker (McDonalds layout)
3. Honorable Mention - In-depth reporting (Election 2008) by Ervin Olson and Luke Baker
4. Honorable Mention - Headline Writing - by Megan Callahan
5. Third Place - Sports feature story - Alex Gasick
6. Third Place - Headline Writing - Brandon Wall
7. Second Place - Sports page design - Jason Beneventi and John Gambino
8. Second Place - In-depth reporting (Making the Case series) - award goes to Natalie Schutz, Stephanie White-Olson and Brandon Wall.
9. Second Place - News Story - Leslie Bolin (Home for the holidays)
The Flyer also won First Place for Newspaper General Excellence "Best of Show" award at the recently concluded Best of the Midwest college media convention held in Minneapolis, MN.
