With 54,097 fans chanting his name during the main event of one of the biggest events in the history of the professional wrestling business, Wrestlemania XIX, a sweaty and groggy Brock Lesnar began climbing to the top rope. Rather than pin his downed opponant, Kurt Angle, Lesnar craved giving the fans something more.

Lewis cheerleading finishes fifth at Nationals

The highest ranked sports team at Lewis University is the cheerleading team. On March 31, the Lewis cheerleaders left school to compete in Nationals at Daytona Beach, Fla. The competition spanned over a period of two days. The first day was the prelims, which included 15 teams in the division.

All of the seniors on Lewis University's basketball team had key roles in their conference championship season. Four seniors started nearly every game during the season, and all five had at least five starts on the season. The most unheralded of the seniors was Sarunas Skadas.

Stellar pitching and hitting equal success

Softball on 14-game winning streak and ranked second in region

The Lewis University softball team has been lighting up the diamond winning 14 straight matches, propelling them into second place tie with SIU Edwardsville in the GLVC standings. The Flyers are currently 29-9 overall (10-2 GLVC), ranked second in the region, and trail Northern Kentucky (38-2, 10-0) for the conference lead.
